IMPROVEMENTS TO KANNADA LANGUAGE
1. No language can afford to be static. Every language has improved over the years. English language is no exception. George Bernard Shaw wanted some improvements to the English Language, While he made some efforts during his life time he bequeathed the Royalties from his Play PYGMALLION for the improvement of the English language. When this play was made into a motion picture, it became big success and earned Millions & Millions. His next kin challenged the will on the grounds that Shaw was senile at the time of writing the will. The Judge while setting aside the will said that ‘ it is not the Senility of the Old man that mars the will but youthful exuberance that mars the will’ and saying so set aside the will. Any improvement to English from Shaw’s side came to an end. The Conservative British heaved a sigh of relief that their Language was saved from catastrophe. Both the Will and the Judgment go down in the history of English language as Master pieces.
2. Kannada also a ( 98%) perfect language. The way in which the Alphabets are arranged, that too thousands of years ago is a wonder. We can write whatever we want to write almost perfectly. In some languages it is difficult to write like that. For instance, in Tamil PUTTU RAO can at best be read as Buttu Rao, Puddu Rao Buddu Rao etc.. The clever Tamils still manage things nicely. In English also you cannot differentiate whether ‘ Rama’ stands for Rama or Raama. Also Bharatha Rathna, etc,. In Kannada, While all other words can be written precisely, the words formed through English Fa and Za is difficult to write. So I suggest there is need to introduce and design these two Alphabets into Kannada language to make it more perfect/
3. Further I feel, if our Pundits can agree, we can do away with these Maha Pranas , Viz, Kha, Gha Tta, dha Thha dha and Pha Bha & shha and we can Put a “_” or “- “ above or below the Alpa Prana to give the same effect. This will help reduce the number of Alphabets and make it easier for Typing &; Computerisation etc., The Problems with Alphabets in many languages is either they are more in number or less than needed. Shall we debate for some time on this? CSP RAO.
